EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A pedestrian was hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by a train on Evansville’s west side, prompting a multi‑agency emergency response and temporary rail traffic disruption.
The incident occurred near the W. Franklin Street rail crossing, where first responders were dispatched after reports of a person on or near the tracks. When crews arrived, they located an injured individual who had been struck by an oncoming train.
Evansville Police and Fire Department personnel provided immediate medical assistance before the victim was transported to a local hospital. Officials have not released the person’s identity or current condition, and no additional medical details have been made public.
Rail traffic in the area was halted while investigators documented the scene and interviewed witnesses. Authorities have not yet confirmed the circumstances leading up to the collision, including whether the pedestrian was attempting to cross the tracks or was on the rail line for another reason.
The investigation remains active, and officials say more information will be released once it becomes available.
